Sakura Matsuri (5/2~5/3)

I plan on going for one of the days (since they're fairly similar) -- Most likely 5/2.

Sakuramatsuri is a general term for any festival geared towards catching the brief moment when the sakura (cherry blossoms) are the most pretty.

This particular one happens at the Brooklyn Botanical Gardens.

They are quite fun -- Lots of events like:

contemporary and traditional Japanese music and dance, taiko drumming, ikebana flower arranging, Japanese DJs, presentations on Japanese manga art, tea ceremonies, and workshops for all ages.

And there's a lot more stuff like cosplayers, shakuhachi, jpop concerts, hanagasa parade, bonsai, etc.

Typically, after enjoying sakuramatsuri for a good portion of the day, I leave a bit early to head over to Mitsuwa market and do some shopping before a Japanese dinner.

It's a day trip, and I like carpooling, so let me know

7am) Leave Albany
10am) Arrive at Brooklyn Botanic Garden
10-4pm) Enjoy Sakuramatsuri
4pm) Head to NJ
5pm) Arrive at Mitsuwa Market
5-8pm) Shopping/Karaoke(?)
8-9pm) Dinner at Matsushima
Midnight) Arrive back at Albany
