An insane idea...
#1
Well. I was wondering if there was any chance of anyone having some interest of possibly setting up a mini-con??

I'm trying to get as much of the anime community together, get some ideas for some venues. So on and so fourth.

I know I'm crazy. Thanks.

Crazy ideas? That's what I'm talking about!

UNY Cosplay is generally up for helping out where cosplay is involved.
Also, Amber has been wanting to find a venue to run a Maid Cafe -- Maybe this is her chance?!

I'm always up for running karaoke/anime name that tune/dance.

You definitely want to hook up with Justin as well.
He runs RNYO out in Rochester, which included one or two (?) one-day shindigs.
I'm sure there are many things you can learn from him.

As for other resources, you might try tapping into Genericon (RPI, Troy) and BadCon (SUNY, Albany).

But I should ask you -- What is your scope?
Is it purely Anime?
Genericon is anime/gaming. BadCon is purely gaming, at the moment.

Well. I'm into kinda having a little bit of everything.
Anime, Gaming, Table-top, LARP, Cosplay, maybe a little sci-fi. XD
BadCon's run out of Albany? I think I visited their site just the other night... Hmm.

I'll make sure to get in contact with them.

Cons are starting to run into each other, if you ask me. Anime cons, comic cons, sci-fi cons, gaming cons, renaissance fairs, film festivals...Not that it's a bad thing to have, say, Darth Vader in a V mask walking the halls at Otakon. Or that guy who dresses as a wrestler?

Personally I think combo-cons are more successful when starting out since there's a wider audience....
Planned cons: Otakon
Planned costumes for 2009:
Anna Kyoyama (Death of Yoh Version) - Shaman King - 90%
Penelo - Final Fantasy XII - Planned
Haruka/May - Pokemon - Planned
Timpani - Super Paper Mario - Planned

Peronally, I giggle every timen I see a troop of storm troopers grazing the halls of an anime convention. I tend to expect a Vader behind them, but alas, no. ROFL.

It is a better way to go, at least dealers room and artist alley wise.

But we tend to meld and mesh together, when you really think about it.
And I like wearing my Harry Potter cosplay! Big Grin XD

Maybe if we could get the space we could have a "Rock band" battle of the bands.

So just a general overall 'Geek' Con? I like that, especially because I've been getting more into video games and american comics and less into anime and manga.
